Homemade Play Dough
RECIPE
The children at DHCDC just love this stuff! Our teachers make it as an inexpensive
and nontoxic version of the commercial one. You can do it in any color.

Ingredients:

1 cup of flour
½ cup of salt
2 teaspoons of cream of tartar
1 cup of water
2 tablespoons of oil
Food coloring

Directions:

  1. Mix together all ingredients except for the oil.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a saucepan.
  3. Add other mixed ingredients to the heated oil in the pan and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Drop the ball of dough on waxed paper or foil and let it get cool enough to handle.
  5. Knead the dough, separate it into two or more portions, and color as desired with food coloring.
  6. Play dough will stay soft and pliable for a long time if wrapped in plastic and kept in the refrigerator.
  7. Play and enjoy!
