Sandbox Construction
February 19, 2011

This hard-working crew of about 20 volunteers from Waters Edge Church came to our Mary Peake Center site to build a sandbox for our children and spruce up the property, as part of the church's "Love Week" (coinciding with Valentine's Day).

Step one of building our new sandbox was to remove the old (and potentially dangerous!) metal from a long-gone shed.

The sandbox is now fully contained, the liner is down,
and the top railing is being cut to fit.

The team gathers around the completed sandbox frame and prepares for the arrival of... the sand!
Many thanks to Pembroke Stone Mart for donating the sand, and to C. Fiskus Trucking for delivering it.

The top is smoothed over, and the sandbox is ready for play! A cover will be placed when the box is not in use, to keep it free of animals and debris.
