8th Annual Old Point National Bank
Fundraising Breakfast

to Benefit DHCDC
April 20, 2010

What a particularly spectacular year this was for our breakfast. With a grand total topping $60,500, our annual fundraising breakfast was once again a great opportunity to invest in the children of DHCDC, learn more about how we serve our community's families, and of course, enjoy a hot plated breakfast with nearly 400 other advocates. Our theme this year was:

"OUR CHILDREN: A Smart Investment"

Tables set for more than 400, with original art
by our children adorning the walls.

Some of our children's beautiful artwork.

Parent speaker Rebecca Richmond-Sargent enjoys
a light moment with emcee Scott Cash of WVEC-TV.

As always, each place setting was framed by a
placemat of our children's names and handprints
.

Guests meander in as the 8 a.m. start time approaches.

Members of the Wythe Woman's Club await the
opening remarks from Old Point National Bank
Chairman Robert Shuford.

Family and friends of keynote speaker Chuck Jordan, chief of the Hampton Police Division, fill one of the front tables.
Included in this special group are Chief Jordan's father, Charles Jordan Sr. (center)—one of DHCDC's founding Board Members, and Chief Jordan's
sister, Pam Wilson (second from the right)—one of DHCDC's school nurses.

Breakfast program, featuring two adorable boys
from our Lincoln Street site.

Our delicious breakfast—scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes,
a broiled tomato and a buttermilk biscuit.

Parent speaker Rebecca Richmond-Sargent describes how DHCDC's top-quality preschool program
helped her daughter become a model student in elementary school.

Hampton Police Chief Chuck Jordan captivates the audience
with his keynote speech about how making a
positive connection with a young child can change
the course of their entire life.

DHCDC Board Member and Hampton City Councilman Joe Spencer and Hampton Mayor Molly Ward
find the speakers even more compelling than the food!

Four-year-olds from our Lincoln Street site charm guests
with their rendition of "This Little Light of Mine,"
complete with (paper) candles.

DHCDC Board Treasurer Cheryl Ziff explains
the various options for completing pledge cards.

Guests open their pledge card envelopes and prepare to
make a difference for the children.

Guests take a few minutes to give from their hearts.

Special thanks to our photographer, Jerry Gammon, who donated his services at this event!
